Come Let Us Adore Him
And it came to pass, when the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, “Let us now go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing which has come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.” Luke 2:15

These are just some of the email subjects in my inbox right now. There is so much supposed urgency surrounding these Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
Granted, I love a good sale, and we did grab some deals on Christmas gifts. But these emails can become quite overwhelming! On that first Christmas, the shepherds were doing what they always did: they weren't online shopping, making a Christmas gift list, or baking cookies. When the angel appeared to them, he had their full attention. They received the message with gladness and wonder and hurried to see baby Jesus.
We would do well to imitate them, set aside our long lists of Christmas "chores," and spend some time adoring Jesus. Then, we should do what they did—glorify Him, praise Him, and tell others about Him (Luke 2:17 & 20).
Father, I feel pulled in a hundred directions right now. There's so much to do, see, and experience. Help me not to miss Christ this Christmas. Enable me to focus on the Person we're celebrating in all that I do. In His Name, I pray, Amen.
